P2P

File sharing may be described as giving or receiving one or many computer data files; such as documents, programs or pictures. The basic idea is that one computer sends something and another one is receiving it. Sharing data can be done in many different ways, using different programs or mediums such as Google Drive, Docs, Gmail or Torrents, which is part of a peer to peer method.

Sharing files using a Peer to Peer (P2P) method refers to the idea that some downloadable files are found on an internet server, cloud or another program; which allow users to search for desired content stored on and served by other personal computers. People connect their computers to one sharing space, which serves as a medium to download and upload content between the users.

Some examples of P2P sharing spaces are websites like BitTorrent, PirateBay, Kissanime, and some free streaming sites. These programs allow users to make their computers share their files, like movies, shows or games; and also allow them to search for content shared by others. In the article "Digital Pirates Winning Battle With Studios" Brian Stelter and Brad Stone convey that such applications pose a possible danger of piracy, copyright issues, and theft. They mention BitTorrent, explaining that many companies see it as a threat/problem calling it a place of "digital theft". Personally, I know that a lot of people do pirate movies, games and all sorts of things throughout the internet or P2P applications. It brings many different ethical viewpoints, at one hand, overall access to data and files is expanding which is good, but at the same time, the rights of creators might be compromising.
