Creativity

I like to think of creativity as something that can be produced by using one's power of imagination with the addition of some original ideas. Creativity is truly beautiful, if you can just stop for a moment, focus and think about our world, your favorite places, best moments and events you've been to; thinking about it, it is all creativity. The musicians or rock stars on stage convey their creativity by writing their songs, then performing them, creating a show which attracts a huge audience, that is defining creativity! When you write an essay or a poem, that is also being creative, developing some architectural plans, building a structure, singing, drawing, making clothes and doing makeup, it all encompasses creativity; the list can go on and on. Now, realizing that creativity can be found just around everywhere, what about the new media, and how can new media foster creativity?

As previously stated, creativity can be found just around everywhere, new media is definitely not an exception. Rather, it is huge and very rapidly growing space, tools, and platforms which contribute to the overall growth, fostering creativity. Most people in the world have some kind of smart device or computer and access to the internet. Thanks to that, such a grand representation of people may use the tools of new media in so many different ways in order to create something, enjoy at the same time and get more inspired, usually by the feedback, to create something else, maybe something even more amazing or beautiful. According to the article "Creators, Audiences, and New Media: Creativity in an Interactive Environment", Isaac Bell stated that "Creators may be inspired by the ideas of a particular audience, the distribution of their works might bypass gatekeepers, and the audience may use these works in their own creations. The Internet allows us to observe and examine these changes both in real-time and after the fact", "the Internet has allowed more people to perform and share their creative acts" and that "each step in the writing process and cycle of creation, distribution, reception, and feedback can be exposed through interactions such as interviews, blogs by the authors, and lasting records of conversations between audience and creator". That is essentially a small taste of, to what new media extends; besides already being a wonderful place that fosters creativity for the content maker, it brings him/her to the audience, the people and ultimately to the feedback. The Internet is truly an amazing place which constantly grows, day by day and remarkably, fosters creativity. Content creators and viewers or new media audience, compared to the old traditional way of media, they can both communicate with each other on a whole new level. That communication can help the creators, inspire them even more, and even lead to the audience turning into the content creators themselves. It truly inspires me to see so much content and just different things on the internet, so much creativity, ideas, and real-time online environments which just grow.
